Norwegian Boy saves Sister from Moose Attack using World of Warcraft Skills
Hans Jørgen Olsen, a 12-year-old Norwegian boy, saved himself and his sister from a moose attack using skills he picked up playing the online role playing game World of Warcraft.
Hans and his sister got into trouble after they had trespassed the territory of the moose during a walk in the forest near their home. When the moose attacked them, Hans knew the first thing he had to do was ‘taunt’ and provoke the animal so that it would leave his sister alone and she could run to safety. ‘Taunting’ is a move one uses in World of Warcraft to get monsters off of the less-well-armored team members.
Once Hans was a target, he remembered another skill he had picked up at level 30 in ‘World of Warcraft’ – he feigned death. The moose lost interest in the inanimate boy and wandered off into the woods. When he was safely alone Hans ran back home to share his tale of video game-inspired survival.

Bubble hearth…
very cool tricks !!
I lol’d.
“A moose once bit my sister.” – David Bowie
I don’t know which made me LOL more, that the kid used Hunter skills or the fact that it actually worked, or George’s bubble hearth
this is insane i wish i could use my world of warcraft skills, i mean i could be a vigilante of all ways like i have so many runescape skills just waiting to be used
Where did this attack occur?
Moose are native to northern North America, I don’t think there are any in Norway outside of the Oslo Zoo maybe.
Hate to spoil a fun story, but we all know how “truthful” 12 yr olds can be.
actually, moose are native to Europe too. They just call them elk over there.
This is soooo awesome.
We all know what to do before going to a camping trip next time
bullshit
haha intense !
At least this kid played a horrible type of character that taunts and then feigns death.
Fucking Huntard. If he was a rogue he could have just kept him stunned for like 20 seconds and could have vanished. The bubble hearth would have killed the sister but she deserves it for being a noob.
Godlike
I would’ve just kicked it’s ass. Why didn’t he just kick the mooses’ ass?
Pft i bet the moose was neutral…
it only agro since he taunt it
Draw aggro and then feign death. Typical huntard. If this was true to WoW, his sister and all her friends are now dead.
ENTANGLING ROOTS!! MOONFIRE CANNON!!!!!
lol i woulda misdirected to the sister.
Ahh. I’ll never be as awesome, sadly.
What a legend!!!
Природа это опасно. Мальчишка просто герой.
you’re all fucktarded
vanish would of looked so much better and it would of been called a ninja pull
Den gutten er en helt!
You know, all you people who actually play World of Warcraft should actually hope this kid is telling the truth and be praising his actions instead of trolling and being assholes…
On a serious note this is actually a wonderful thing for gaming in general (not just WoW) because it proves that games aren’t “bad” and “corrupting society”… Last time I checked most books and programs on the discovery channel say nothing of how to fend off a Moose attack… GG to all the retarded assholes who say “Zah mah gawd! Video games r bad!! They corrupt mah childrenz!” <— Fucking fail ass parents.
What a moose-shit! Indians knew such tricks 1000 years ago. I learned it from nature documentaries as a child. Cheap stunt to promote a moronic game. Besides, these tricks don’t always work, moose is no fool at all.
It would have been much better of the by had learnt those skills in a real club or a camp for kids. Computer games for our kids nowadays are our pain. Kids learn only cruelty and develop disease because of sedentary lifestyle.

Bravo young commander boy ! appreciate boy’s presence of mind courage. hat off n salute to brave-heart.
Seriously? wtf. It’s common sense to get the moose off your sister and then play dead. It’s basic natural instinct. Claiming that PoS game had anything to do with it is retarded.
I’m so glad he played a hunter. It wouldn’t work as well if he was a warlock like I was. Imagine trying to throw curses at the moose. And let’s not even talk about sicking demon pets on it.
I’m not sure this is true, but if it is, it is AWESOME.
damn hes a lvl 1337 hunter 0.o
Now, if he wants to level up anytime soon he’s going to have to defeat at least 3 moose. He’s just too low of a level for a bear to be an appropriate foe for him to fight.
had he used the skills he learned on GTA he would have a new car, a hoe and lots of money. instead he’s still a little nerd running around with a stick in the woods with his ugly sister.
Wow… Exciting story, but if the moose hadn’t decided to leave the kid alone, he’d be a dead kid, and there ain’t no res. IF YOU DIE IN REAL LIFE, YOU DIE IN THE GAME!

all of us can learn to do things like this in real life!
Oh yeah, he learned “taunt” from Warcraft just as he learned “sprint”, “hide” and “chat”. Presumably he later quested his mother to craft him his favourite dish as a quest reward.
Good thing the moose hadn’t skilled “trample” or this highly interesting tale would have escaped our esteemed notice.
@WoWGurl, Taunt isn’t a hunter skill =P
Strength & Honor, Hans! May your blades never dull!
I think the author meant “distracting shot”, I hate to be technical – but learn2source.
Should have just used shadowmeld…
He better have dinged for that.
So when did the “Point and Click” skills he learned in WoW actually enter into the moose defense? I didn’t see them in the article.
acctualy, there are moose all ocer norway, abd NOT in zoo’s, retards,, abd btw, hunter taunt are distraction shot,, bubbleheart ftw
over* and*
I don’t believe it… he plays world of warcraft and e went for a real walk? ha! likely story…
That’s realy cool
web2 resources
This is cool, the kid is a loser.
@BadMojo,
I just love to see the ignorance of people from US. Moose is as native in Europe as it is in NA. At least consult Google before making such a fool out of yourself. This is a perfect video for you to watch:
