Famous technologist and futurist Ray Kurzweil states: it's going down by 2029, so be prepared to get digital on entirely new levels. According to Kurzweil, machines will have both the hardware and the software to achieve human level artificial intelligence by then. Kurzweil doesn't expect Arnold style robots to be hanging around but thinks of it on the nano scale, with interfaces to enhance our own physiology and intelligence.

The basic assumption that Kurzweil is making is that technology develops exponentcially. Without this premise nearly everything he says doesn't seem realistic, but if he is right, we can be happy about very cool decades we will experience.

2029? lol let alone 2090... According to Futurologists back in the 50's we would be hovering over our cities with our personal-flying-cars and we would've terraformed mars..

2029? I thought it was space odyssey 2001?! Oh no wait, that has already past and ever futurologist knows you have to project your prophecies 20-30 years in the future in order to get peoples attention. How do you compare machine intelligence with human intelligence? It is like comparing apples with pears. And how then do you choose a moment where one becomes 'better' than the other? Picking the year 2029 seems pretty ad hoc (although I agree it is a beautiful number).
