INTERNSHIPS STARTING FEBRUARY 2016

In February 2016 we start with a fresh group of interns at our Amsterdam office on exciting new projects ranging from an ECO Currency, to a Kids Workshop, to a Next Nature Park. Is your name among one of the disciplines? Apply now and learn to love the future.

INTERNSHIP FOR VISIONARY ECONOMIST AT NEXTNATURE.NET

Next Nature Network

The Next Nature Network (NNN) explores how our technological environment becomes so omnipresent, complex, intimate and autonomous that it becomes a nature of its own. We stimulate discussion, initiate publications, create traveling exhibitions and organize events. Our website NextNature.net has over one million unique visitors per year and is considered as worldwide authority on the theme. The Next Nature Network is based in Amsterdam. We work with a core team of freelancers on a project basis.

Internship: Visionary Economist

We offer an internship for a visionary economist that will contribute to the realization of an ECO Currency: an alternative currency to express environmental value. Besides US Dollar, Euro, Chinese Yuan, British Pound, Brazilian Real, etc. there would also be the ECO, a currency that expresses environmental value. The purpose of the ECO is to counter the lack of representation of environmental values in the economical sphere. Would the rain forest still be destroyed if we could pay people to let the trees stand? The strategic aim of the ECO currency is to connect economy with ecology.

To realize this vision, we offer an internship for a student on an advanced bachelor or master level in economy, or a professional looking to try out something new. Editorial, production and writing skills are a requirement. You will be the only economist in the office and work in a multidisciplinary team of designers, so you have to be able to work independently and able to swim in the deep end of the pool.

What do we expect?

– Responsible, eager, self-propelled, ‘can do’ attitude.
– Economical knowledge.
– Experience in researching, writing and editing.
– Strong English language skills.
– Awareness of basic media design tools.
– Interest in next nature and the social-cultural implications of technological advancements in general.

Duration, location, compensation

Typically, any internship lasts 90 (working) days, but other durations are possible. There will be modest internship compensation of 200 euro per month (based on a 5-day working week) available to cover basic expenses. You can start in February 2016. Your internship will take place on a full time basis at our offices in Amsterdam. We expect you to provide for your own housing in the region (We can only provide basic guidance on where to look for housing).

Applications

To apply, send your letter of motivation and a link to your on-line portfolio to Koert van Mensvoort, director NextNature.net: internship@nextnature.net.
